GENERAL DETAILS:
In this trade, the trainees are trained primarily to perform various types of mechanical operations like, Marking, Sawing, Drilling, Filing with different types and grades of files and Welding as well as different types of operations that may be performed through a Lathe Machine.

Special emphasis is given on the nature of skill and expertise required by the employers for the selection of the topics of practical assignments. In order to make the training most effective, the theoretical issues are thoroughly discussed in the classrooms and thereafter relevant practical assignments are allotted in the workshop. Every suitable & cautious step is undertaken to avoid accidents and injuries at the workshop.

The job performed by each student is examined on the basis of steps followed to perform the job, quality of work, time consumption to complete the same, etc. The performing skills of the students are considered to play the most crucial role for being selected in any selection process. Hence, special attention is given by the instructors to complete the assignments in the workshop.

Eligibility

Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent.

Admission process

a) Age limit:
Any candidate of 14 – 35 years of age as on the date of the start of the admission process is eligible for admission in HMP VTI.

b) Selection:
Selection of candidates for admission in HMP Vocational Training Institute starts well in advance — Nov–Dec and May–Jun — from the commencement of each training programme.
Admission should be completed by the date of starting the training programmes, but may continue beyond that if necessary to fill vacant seats.

c) Selection of the candidate:
Selection of candidates is done through a personal interview conducted by the relevant instructor of each trade.

d) Prospectus / proforma for admission:
Performa for admission may be obtained from the respective HMP Vocational Training Institute conducting the training programmes.

e) Start of training programmes:
We conduct two training programmes every year at HMP VTI.
The first training programme starts from January to June and the second from July to December.

Job opportunities after this course

One can pursue higher studies like a diploma in engineering after completing the engineering trade course at HMP VTI.

Many industries and companies accept HMP VTI technicians only as apprentices and train the candidates for a period of 6 months.
However, the training period and the admission process may vary between companies.
These candidates may be considered suitable for employment only after this training.

We have our own placement cells and candidates who complete their trade may be directly recruited by companies.

HMP VTI-qualified fitter trade candidates can apply for jobs in either the private or public sector, depending on the trade they have trained in.
Fitter trade professionals are in high demand in the marketplace.

Fitter trade technicians can find job opportunities in many industries and companies.
They have strong scope both in India and abroad.
Job opportunities for fitters are enormous in both onshore and offshore companies such as oil and gas refineries, factories, shipyards, etc.
