Passed 8th class or its equivalent.

Admission process

a) Age limit: Any candidate of 14 – 35 years of age as on the date of start of the admission process is eligible for admission to HMP VTI.

b) Selection: Selection of candidates for admission to HMP Vocational Training Institute starts well in advance — Nov–Dec and May–Jun — from the commencement of each training programme. Admission should be completed before the start date of the training programmes, but may continue beyond the start date if required to fill vacant seats.

c) Selection of the candidate: Selection is done through a personal interview conducted by the relevant trade instructor.

d) Prospectus / proforma for admission: The admission form can be obtained from the respective HMP Vocational Training Institute conducting the training programmes.

e) Start of training programmes: We conduct two training programmes every year at HMP VTI:

  • January to June
  • July to December

Job opportunities after this course

One can pursue higher studies like a diploma in engineering after completing the engineering trade course at VTI. Specialized short-term courses are also offered in advanced training institutes (ATIs) to sharpen the candidates’ skills.

Many industries and companies accept HMP VTI technicians as trainees and provide 6 months of on-the-job training. The duration may vary by company. Candidates are considered suitable for employment after this training period.

HMP VTI has its own placement cell through which trained candidates are directly recruited by companies.

HMP VTI-qualified Welder cum Fitter trade candidates can apply for jobs in both the private and public sector. There is strong demand for Welder cum Fitter professionals in India and abroad, especially in Gulf countries.
