General Details
In this trade, the trainees are trained primarily to perform various types of Earthing, Safety, Basic Electricals, Types of Electrical Equipment Operations and Maintenance, Domestic and Industrial Wiring, Usage of Electrical Instruments, Installation and Maintenance of AC/DC Generators and Motors, Applications of Measurement and Control equipment, Transformers, Star Delta Starters, DOL Starters, and Electrical Power Distribution Systems.

Theories are covered in classrooms prior to practicals to ensure trainees fully understand each task. Instructors focus heavily on safety to avoid electrical hazards and protect both trainees and equipment.

Each student’s performance is evaluated on execution steps, quality of work, and time taken. Skilled electrical technicians play a critical role in job selection processes, and our dedicated instructors emphasize this throughout the training.

Eligibility

Passed 10th class examination, under the 10+2 system of education or its equivalent.

Admission process

a) Age limit: Any candidate of 14 – 35 years of age as of the date of the start of the admission process is eligible for admission to HMP VTI.

b) Selection: Selection of candidates for admission to HMP Vocational Training Institute starts well in advance — Nov–Dec and May–Jun — from the commencement of each training programme. Admissions should be completed before the start date of the training programmes, but may extend if necessary to fill remaining seats.

c) Selection of the candidate: Selection is done through a personal interview conducted by the respective trade instructor.

d) Prospectus / proforma for admission: The admission form can be obtained from the concerned HMP VTI conducting the training programme.

e) Start of training programmes: We conduct two training programmes annually:

  • January to June
  • July to December

Job opportunities after this course

After completing this course at HMP VTI, candidates can pursue a diploma in engineering. Many industries accept HMP VTI technicians as apprentices and provide 6 months of on-the-job training (may vary). After this period, candidates become eligible for employment.

We have an active placement cell through which companies directly recruit trained candidates.

HMP VTI-certified candidates can find jobs in both the private and public sectors. They can also work as electrician contractors for companies or start their own ventures in:

  • winding shops
  • electrical equipment shops
  • fabrication shops
  • electrical item manufacturing

Self-employment is strongly encouraged for entrepreneurial students.
